What encoding parameters does the software support for
AAC?
AAC Converter supports the following encoding parameters for
AAC.
- Average Bit Rate (ABR): supports 16 kbps, 24 kbps, 32 kbps, 40 kbps,
48 kbps, 56 kbps, 64 kbps, 80 kbps, 96 kbps, 112 kbps, 128 kbps, 144 kbps, 160

bigger value, the better sound quality, and the larger file size.
And, the software supports the following advanced options for professional
users.
- Use Temporal Noise Shaping (TNS): default value is OFF
- Allow Mid/Side: default value is ON
- MPEG Version: default value is MPEG4. The MPEG4 is recommended. As
non-standard compliant players like QuickTime 6 only support MPEG4. However, Philips
Expanium users should choose MPEG2. As their CD portable does not know MPEG-4
AAC files.
- Block Type: default value is "Both long and short"

7.95 kbps, 10.2 kbps, and 12.2 kbps.
- Enable DTX: Discontinuous transmission (DTX) is a method of momentarily
powering-down, or muting, a mobile or portable wireless telephone set when there
is no voice input to the set. This optimizes the overall efficiency of a wireless
voice communications system. In a typical two-way conversation, each individual
speaks slightly less than half of the time. If the transmitter signal is switched
on only during periods of voice input, the duty cycle of the telephone set can
be cut to less than 50 percent. This conserves battery power, eases the workload
of the components in the transmitter amplifiers, and reduces interference. For
more information about DTX, please click
here.
What encoding parameters does the software support for
AWB?
AMR MP3 Converter supports the following encoding parameters
for AWB.
- Bit Rate: supports 6.60 kbps, 8.85 kbps, 12.65 kbps, 14.25 kbps, 15.85
kbps, 18.25 kbps, 19.85 kbps, 23.05 kbps, and 23.85 kbps.
- Enable DTX: Discontinuous transmission (DTX)
What encoding parameters does the software support for
MP4/M4A/M4B?
Similar to AAC file except MPEG Version.
Can I change volume
when converting?
Sure. You need to set an option before converting.
- For MP3: Click "Options" -> "MP3 Options" tab
- > "Sound" section, check "Amplify / Reduce sound" and set a
coefficient. The coefficient value is described below.
- < 100% - Reduce sound
- = 100% - No changes
- > 100% - Amplify sound
For example:
- 50%: Reduce sound to half of original audio
- 200%: Double sound of original audio
- Output as OGG: Similar to MP3, just click "OGG Options"
tab instead.
- Output as WAV: Similar to MP3, just click "WAV Options"
tab instead.
- Output as AMR/AWB: Similar to MP3, just click "AMR Options"
tab instead.
- Output as AAC: Similar to MP3, just click "AAC Options"
tab instead.
- Output as MP4/M4A/M4B: Similar to MP3, just click "MP4/M4A/M4B
Options" tab instead.
Why can't I convert from MP3 to AAC at a fixed
bit rate?
The AAC file is encoded with MPEG4AAC codec. The codec doesn't fix bit rate
like MP3. The real bit rate used in target AAC depends on input sound. If MPEG4AAC
encoder thinks it's possible to get the best quality by a lower bit rate than
number user set, it use the lower bit rate to save space. What you care about
is if sound quality loses. If the encoder think no needs to use 192 kbps, it just
choose a best bit rate, which will get same quality and use less space.
The input format doesn't affect the bit rate; only real input sound affects.
The bit rate probably aren't same with different files.
Is it possible to keep ID3 tag information when converting
file to MP3/OGG/MP4/M4A/M4B?
Yes, it is. You should check option "Transfer ID3 tag from source file"
at "Options" -> "MP3 Options," "OGG Options," or
"MP4/M4A/M4B Options" -> "ID3 tag" section.
AAC Converter supports ID3 tag of MP3 (ID3v1 and ID3v2), OGG, MP4, M4A,
M4B, FLAC, APE, MPC, WMA, WMV, and ASF files.
How can I add a customized ID3 tag when converting
to MP3/OGG/MP4/M4A/M4B?
Click "Options" -> "MP3 Options," "OGG Options,"
or "MP4/M4A/M4B Options" tab -> "ID3 tag" section and
check "Add ID3 tag", and then click "Edit ID3 tag" button
below to edit the custom ID3 tag information.

At "Title" field, if you check "Name as file name (not include extension)",
the software will set Title as file name when converting. For example: original
file name is "Happy New Year.ogg", and then the title will be set as "Happy New
Year" automatically.
Is it possible to
output destination files to a specified folder?
Yes, it is. You may click "Options" -> "Output Options" tab -> "Output Folder" section, choose "Specify output
folder" at "Output Folder" combo-box and click "Browse" button to choose an output folder.
Is it possible to
output destination files to a specified folder and keep path of original files?
Yes, it is. Like question above, but you should check "Create folders according to path of source file", thus the program will create folders according
to path of source file.
For example: Original file is "C:\Music\pop\test.aac" and
output folder is "D:\Output." If the option is checked, the output folder
will be "D:\Output\C\Music\pop."
How to split left and right channels into two files?
First, split the left channel.
- Set output channel to mono at MP3/WAV/OGG Options
- Check "L channel" at Options -> General tab -> "If
output channel is set to mono and the original file is stereo, output sound equals
to"
- Convert to MP3, OGG, or WAV
Then, split the right channel, similar to instructions above, just check "R
channel" at step 2.
